Cold Process Green Tea and Cucumber Soap
"I have been making all types of soap and candles for about 10 years and I started making jewelry and altered art in 2009. Additionally, I dabble in other crafts such as ceramics, painting, and formulating other bath and body items. My shop name is from the game World of Warcraft. I love fantasy literature and games. Mylana was the name of my first WOW character, a troll priestess. My shop is a one woman show. I design, create, pack, and ship everything by myself, except for one set of greeting cards that I designed digitally and have printed locally at BPP Printers in Murfreesboro, TN. If you have any questions about the process or materials used in my creations, please ask :) Most of my soaps are vegan, with my most popular recipe containing olive oil and coconut oil, for a simple, but luxurious soap. I also make soap from glycerin (melt and pour) bases. If there is something you want, but don't see in my shop, please contact me to see if I can make it. Ecclectic, bright, and unusual are the key words I would use to describe my shop. I love using interesting colors and texture. I try to use recycled materials for packaging and shipping. Most of my soaps are wrapped in cotton fabric, which is leftover from my neighbor's Etsy shop, NancyK4u, she makes pillow inserts and children's clothes and passes the extra fabric on to me. I use the fabric for wrapping or cut it into rustic ribbons. When I don't have recycled materials available for packaging, I enjoy designing my own decorative papers and cigar bands for wrapping my items. My other hobbies are cooking, walking, gardening, and World of Warcraft."

Working at Bob's was my first exposure to a professional studio potter make a living from his art. I was convinced instantly that this was what I wanted to do. In 2002 I decided to make a go of it and set up a studio in St. Paul where I continue to work in my 10th year of making pottery professionally. I love making pottery and find it comfortable being part of a tradition of making pots for peoples homes. My introduction to ceramics was through the study of artifacts as a student of Anthropology. I was immediately drawn to the physical evidence and tangibility of these ancient objects. I loved how they inhabited the physical world of our lives through utility, while also functioning as metaphors for shifting meaning, means of connection, and measurements of time. "My parents didn't have a money tree. I learned to make what I wanted with my own hands - toy trucks from scrapwood, knives from old broken pieces, little pots from clay I found along a creek bank. That was fun. It generated a love of craft and the old ways, the real ways of making things with a personal touch. As an adult, I couldn't get away from my fascination with clay. It caught up with me. I studied long and hard, trained under old masters and picked their brains. My adult daughters and son couldn't keep their hands out of it either, and followed in my footsteps... my handprints. Getting into the rhythm of creating, we often lose all sense of time in the joy of it. I like to compare the creating of a pot to a song. The perfection of each step from kneading, forming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and the final glaze firing, has to all work together to create the harmony of a great piece. It gives me real satisfaction to eat out of a handmade dish or grasp a shaving mug, that is an individual, with personality, not just another assembly line number. My wares are to share that joy with you!"

She was a professional seamstress and she taught me how to sew when I was very young growing up in England. "My mission is to create functional art that is visually entertaining; that is charming & brings a smile to your face. I have been working (although I enjoy it so much it seems more like playing) with clay since 1999. I adore the feel & texture of clay & find something very fullfilling & satisfying in turning a simple ball of clay into something useful & pretty that people take delight in using. I love art that can be touched, felt & used which is what draws me to claywork with Australian landscapes, fauna and flora being my inspiration for surface treatment. I studied at Hornsby TAFE college (in NSW, Australia) for 5 years both full & part time, recieving Distinctions in Surface Treatment & my work was purchased to be displayed in the ArtsNORTH permanant art collection. I use various techniques- wheel forming, handbuilding, sculpting & slip-casting. My surface treatments also vary from clear glaze over underglaze to saggar & pit-firing where some salt, sawdust & other combustible materials along with heat and mother nature are left to make their mark. Teapots, bowls, mugs & bottle forms are my favourite items to make. I usually embellish them with hand sculpted frogs, lizards, ladybugs, grasshoppers, butterflies & dragonflies & always aiming for a playful whimsy. My work has been exhibited & sold in galleries & shows around Sydney & been published in magazines such asThe Journal of Australian Ceramics, Pottery In Australia & Australian Ceramics, Glasswork & Pottery magazines & can also be found in collections around Australia, UK, USA, China, Holland, Korea & Italy. I am currently busy in my home studio in Sydney creating work that I hope will delight you & make you smile. "Welcome to Jean's Crochet. My grandmother taught me to crochet a chain stitch when I was 5 years old. It was the longest chain "in the world". Later, when I was a bit older, I learned the rest of the stitches from a Learn How to Crochet book. I have been hooked ever since. My favorite things to crochet are doilies but I have crocheted afghans, toys, baby clothes etc. over the years. I will be listing doilies and Swedish Weaving blankets both for adults and babies. "I am a native of Sydney, Australia, and it was here that I began my formal education in art. In my second year of college I moved to the United States and received my B.F.A. from B.G.S.U. in Ohio. I spent the next 10 years as art director in the field of television. Recognizing the stresses of the advertising world, I took the opportunity to find other forms of artistic expression. My love of glass was born and I allowed this creative energy to guide me. What evolved were works of art that integrated into our more common understanding of functional living.

I discovered that it is derived from a Celtic word for oak, which happens to be a tree of which I have always felt a magical bond, even from a very young age. I feel that my love of nature is genetic--a nod to my ancestors who would be proud to know that it is alive and well in the 21st century.
I am a stay-at-home mother with 4 young children which definitely keeps me busy!"
