Esther from the sticks

Lights 5x7 Print
"I'm a 16 year old fashion designer, living in the sticks of Indiana. I love sewing, knitting, drawing, God, running, math, the smell of freshly cut grass, the feel of fall, stuffing my face with freshly made chocolate chip cookies, light bouncing off my skin, the feel of the wind, and most of all just being 16."

junkyard glitter

Hand Painted Vintage Purse- The Ship and The Octopus
"I am an artist from my head to my toes. My house is loaded with artsy fartsy stuff. When I am not creating I am working as a professional Mural artist. That is my main passion. Right now I am really into upcycling old stuff.
I am sure you are wondering why so much bird stuff. From a very young age I wanted to be an Ornithologist. Birds to me symbolize how I like to feel in life. Free and capable of flying through anything. When I was 10 my dad got me 2 bird watching books and binoculars. So therefore I was official. So am I a nerd? Yes. But my husband loves me so who cares.
I have a great artist husband. His name is Jesse. He is the love of my life. When I am not with him I am with my 2 Dachsunds Tucker and Duke. They let me know everyday that things will be ok as long as they are fed, otherwise they will make my life a living hell until they are fed.
If you are like me you probably don't have much time. I have found that I have to make time for this little obsession of mine. I hope you like peering into my little world. Thanks!"

Shy Little Ghost

Fay - Large Round Glass Tile Magnet
"My name is Laura, and I am the ShyLittleGhost. I'm shy, I'm little, and although I'm not really a ghost, I could likely pass as one - I'm very pale, typically nocturnal, and I can be quite inconspicuous (I'm a master at hide-and-seek). I'm a romantic, a dreamer, and a child at heart. I love to tell stories on paper, and since I've always been better with pictures than with words, art is the perfect way for me to express my ideas."

bayou salvage

Sweet and Lowdown French Quarter Boho Messenger Cross Body Bag in French Bleu ChambrayRuffle Lagniappe from down de bayou
"Southern style to me embraces the languid geography of where we live- enveloped by water below, beside and around us. Southern style is as mysterious and winsome as the bayous and eddys of the Mississippi River- calm, murky or churning. It nods to history and looks forward. It is hopeful.
I am a native of the deep south, with an aesthetic and experience that is true Southern Gothic. My childhood was spent playing on the decaying grounds of Rowan Oak (Faulkner's home)amidst rusty farm equipment and filbert trees that curled back against the sun.
To get my childhood you mix : 3 parts rust, 2 parts torn lace, a jigger of bourbon,& a splash of absinthe. Serve with a family secret (or two) & you have bayousalvage style.
Want to know more about Bayou Salvage?
*I always wanted to be an artist and my favorite thing to do was dress up as a gypsy
*I loved being a girl scout and quickly earned all the creative badges.
* I started driving at 14 and developed an early fondness for vintage cars. I can shift from the steering wheel of a 1966 International truck, parallel park a 1966 Pontiac Catalina and drag race a 1962 M.G. I've also been able to charm my way out of speeding tickets by detailing the notorious past of a certain 1985 Jeep Grand Wagoneer once the chick magnet of a certain New Orleans Jazz Trumpeter (his wife made him get rid of it)."

Woodland Belle

Tiny Succulent Garden Necklace
"About the Artist: I'm Mai McKemy (first name pronounced May, like the month), the artist behind the designs at Woodland Belle (formerly The Sparrow’s Nest.) I currently reside and work in western North Carolina. You can learn more about me by visiting www.woodlandbelle.com/about.
You can view my Featured Seller article here and my Quit Your Day Job feature here
About my Work:
►Branch Collection - Focusing on the beauty of the tree and other botanical forms, this collection includes my best-selling Tiny Twig Hair Pins in several varieties, as well as other innovative bobby pin designs in solid cast bronze.
►Wing Collection - The Wing Collection celebrates the wonder of all things winged, from birds to butterflies and moths. Most pieces in this collection are cast in beautiful, solid bronze, and feature rich details. Each piece is my original design.
►Tiny Terrarium Collection - I started this collection in 2008 under http://4thesparrowsnest.etsy.com) , and was one of the first artists on Etsy to introduce the concept of "tiny terrarium jewelry." Since then, many artists have been inspired by this concept and you can now find many spin-offs of this idea all over Etsy. My pieces are often imitated, but the first Tiny Terrarium Collection originated here.
In this unusual collection, I've explored and expanded the concept of the terrarium, including in it a celebration of both flora and fauna alike. These miniature nature dioramas are encased in small glass containers, preserving the wonder of magical moments. This is one of my most popular collections; each piece is very time-intensive and involves the greatest attention to detail. Due to the time-intensive nature of this collection, the availability of these items fluctuates.
►Succulent Collection - I've expanded on botanical concepts to include the ever-popular succulents, exploring these evocative forms in both plastic as well as bronze and sterling silver. Each solid bronze or silver piece is an original design and includes components cast from real succulent plants. I create each plastic succulent one-by-one, with great attention to the tiniest details."

the horizon

the horizon by brookeshaden
the horizon, a photo by brookeshaden on Flickr.

Featuring Miss Aniela..It is so much fun photographing her because she is so aware of the camera and how she looks in front of it, and what it is like to work behind it as well. I told her about this image, told her to look off into the distance, and she fell so naturally into a pose. I had another person in this but in the end felt that it was too distracting and cluttered so that detail didn't make the cut.
I have really been trying to push myself lately and shoot things that perhaps I would not have a bit ago. I have been trying to shoot the sky and gain more knowledge in that area.
This was hugely inspired by a Snuggle Fabric Softener commercial I saw when I was a child. It featured a woman next to her house on top of a hill hanging her super soft laundry on the clothes line. I remember thinking how badly I wanted to live there. I thought it looked like the nicest place on earth, and I still feel that way. However, I've always enjoyed thinking about that commercial in a darker, more ominous way...so this is the result of those visions.
Miss Aniela's title would have been: "Waiting for Teddy" :-D

Tutus Chic

Modern Day Aristocrat Tee Shirt in Earl Grey tea tones. Tee shirt of charcoal silk and cotton ruffles tee shirt.
"Tutus have been a part of my life for a very long time. As a former professional ballet dancer, I lived to wear a tutu and lived in a tutu. Now I love to see my ideas come to life in the form of an original design. It is the same creative process as creating a role or a ballet on stage.
Creating tutus with the traditional look of a classical romantic ballet in any color or colors. ...known to have been inspired by the paintings of Degas and his Paris Opera dancers whose waists are wrapped in silk and satin over clouds of tulle.
However progressive fashion grabs my attention --nothing is better than Parisian chic with a romantic edge! Creating original headpieces and accessories is part of my history as well.
Tradition is important for classical ballet for without inspiration, life is dull. That is why making tutus of my own design sans pattern- with color- with movement- is a way of life now.
BACKGROUND:
--Formerly a professional ballet dancer and currently a ballet teacher.
What is different about our tutus?
---they take at least 2-10 hours to make. Attention to detail and quality endures.
--gathered and sewn in traditional classical ballet construction, no knotting on elastic or ribbon.
--they tie on so there is room to grow and you can tie them in back, to the side or in front with a beautiful finished bow
-- double-faced unique and beautiful ribbons for your comfort and longevity."
