Charm - mixed media folk art doll
"Born London 1969. I am an Arts Graduate with both a BA hons and a MA - despite the academic side to me, I'm very much a self-taught creative artist. I work in my small studio space, listening to music and surrounded by my favourite collections of art and craft.
I'm also a published poet. I received an Eric Gregory award for poetry in 1996 from the Society of Authors. My work has been published in a variety of journals and I've had a couple of pamplet/chapbook collections published. Currently working on many new poems....
I love to make things with my own two hands, using simple materials: thread, fabric, paper....
I have a love of history, art history, folklore, memory, folk art, nostalgia, design and fashion. I delight in the work of many other artists, especially the outsider Madge Gill, the poet/artist William Blake, countless historical painters, as well as modern textile artist Alice Kettle.
I have exhibited work in the UK and US. My work has been featured in various magazine / journals both in the US and UK."

Jersey and Cap for Taeyang

I had a custom order for Taeyang clothes recently and I wanted to show off a part of it. Here is a photo of a jersey and cap that I made, and the referance photos that I was to go by. I was so happy with how each of them turned out! Made from real jersey fabric and felt.

Sewing doll clothes & Greys and Creams

So, I've been busy sewing doll clothes the last few days. Trying to come up with some new styles and new ideas so that things don't get borring. Using the same dress pattern over and over tends to get grusome after a while. I love the puffy polka-dotted dress. I just used my bubble dress pattern, only I didn't finish off the bottom, as usual. Instead I added a fun, ruffle trim. I got the pattern for the Momoko dress from my dolly dolly pattern book, as well as the pattern for the raincoat from the same book (slightly modified). What do you think?
I have really been into greys and creams lately...

Changing Blythe's Eyechips Tutorial

***Updated April 16, 2010
1. before

2. heat up your glue gun & melt the end of a glue stick.

3. Hold her eyelashes out of the way and stick the melted end of the gluestick in the center of the eyechip that you want removed.

4. Wait 5+ minutes! Grip the doll and pull on the gluestick. Pull hard - don't be afraid of hurting the doll.
5. The eyechip will pull right off the end of the gluestick, sometimes with a bit of a struggle - but it WILL pop off!

6. Do the same with the other eye.
7. Personally, I found these stickers. They are the exact size of the back of the eyechip (half and inch) & have a silver back. Punch a hole in the center of the sticker with a hole-punch (the exact size of the post on the back of the eyechip.) You can also choose not to foil the back of the eyechip. Cool-cat offers foil stickers in the exact same size of the eyechip, and they come in different colors as well.

8. Stick the sticker on the back of the eyechips.

9. Use a good glue to put the eyechips back in the head. I like to use Aleene's Tacky Glue. Hot glue will NOT work; don't use super glue as I've heard it will damage the plastic over time. Put a dab right inside the eyeball hole.

10. Be careful of her eyelashes and place the eyechip in the hole. Be sure to push it right in so that the edge, all around, is in the eye. If an edge is sticking out, the eyelid will not open properly. Hold the eyechip, in the head, for a few seconds, then allow to dry completely before pulling the cord.

11. all done!
