Karin Lorenc

Pottery Mugs in Spring Colors - Set of Four Large Stoneware Coffee Mugs
"I can't stop making stuff. I make something almost everyday. I've dabbled in several media, but I've always had a special love for clay. It feels so good to create something from virtually nothing. A hunk of earth becomes a bowl or mug. Something beautiful but also useful. My process is relatively simple. Most of my work is made on a kick wheel. That's old fashioned foot powered goodness! Since I'm right handed I use my right foot to kick the wheel counter clockwise. Do I have one buff strong leg and one wimpy weak leg from this you might wonder? The answer is... not yet. My pottery is durable cone 5 stoneware meant to be used every day. This means I've fired it to about 2167 degrees F. HERE is my Facebook page. Become a fan for updates."

MidWestPots

White Coffee Mug
"I am originally from Bigfork, MN. I earned a BFA from Bemidji State University and then went on to do a two year residency with potter Bob Briscoe. Working at Bob's was my first exposure to a professional studio potter make a living from his art. I was convinced instantly that this was what I wanted to do. In 2002 I decided to make a go of it and set up a studio in St. Paul where I continue to work in my 10th year of making pottery professionally. I love making pottery and find it comfortable being part of a tradition of making pots for peoples homes. Pots that can be used daily, and are interesting to the point where they help enhance your day to day life."

Roberta Polfus Porcelain

Hand-carved white porcelain faux bois branch 2 with 4 side branches
"I have always been attracted to natural objects, at least as long as my clothing has had pockets. My carved and sometimes gestural pieces are intimate forms that fit and feel good in the hand. While they are generally not representations of actual objects, they reflect the shapes, patterns, colors and surfaces that I am drawn to in nature. I was introduced to porcelain about 14 years ago and we’ve been inseparable since then. I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired to a high temperature in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2340 F. I have many works in process and will be adding them as they come out of the kiln. Each one I've listed is made individually by hand by me."

Mud Pups

Porcelain Cat Sculpture, KC, Figurine Ornament Hand Sculpted OOAK Unique
"“Be mindful o man that though art but dust and to porcelain shalt thou return.” This quote tickles and touches me. The idea that once dust we become the best is both irreverent and heart warming. Humour or serenity always decide my art and fusing these passions produces happy serene porcelain pups. I've been an enthusiast of pottery for more than a decade and Airedales for much longer."

Lilla Jizo

Beach Glass, Kanzeon Bodhisattva (Kuan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion)
"Lilla Jizo is Swedish for Little Jizo. Jizo is a helper and protector in Japanese Buddhism, pictured as a wandering monk and often with childlike appearance. Traditionally, he is the helper and protector of women, children and travellers. Since we are all travellers between Birth and Death, that means everyone is included... His vow is to not stop his efforts as long as there is still a single being suffering in the world. I chose my name Lilla Jizo because I have a strong personal connection to this being, and he often appears in my art, as you will notice if you visit my shop."

Tutus Chic Boutique

Cream ruffles shabby chic tee shirt--Modern Day Aristocrat Tee Shirt in soft cotton and silk.
"Tutus, headpieces and theater have long been a part of my life. As a former professional ballet dancer, I lived to wear a tutu and a beautiful headpiece. Now I love to see my ideas come to life in the form of an original design.
...known to have been inspired by the paintings of Degas and his Paris Opera dancers whose waists are wrapped in silk over clouds of tulle. However, nothing is better than old world elegance influenced by today's world market.
It is difficult to stop creating since there is so much beauty and inspiration in our world. I am indeed lucky to be here."

A Heart So White - Fine art horse photograph - White horse in the water - Animal photography
"I am a Montreal-based fine art photographer. I enjoy experimenting with different styles and techniques, both in-camera and in my digital darkroom. Faithfully capturing a scene is less important to me than finding that little bit of mystery or evoking a certain mood. I like to explore the ethereal, the surreal, the whimsical, the mysterious, and the beautiful. I enjoy creating little poems for the eyes. I hope you find some delight in the images that I so enjoy creating."

Become Who You Are - Large Ceramic Pendant
"Hi, I'm Sara! I was born in New Jersey, but moved to Memphis, TN when I was a freshman in high school. Moved around a bit after college, but always seem to end up back here!
I started working with ceramics after moving back to Memphis from Colorado in 2002. My mom was teaching a class, and I thought it might be a fun new medium to try. I'd always been crafty, dabbling in sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, etc., but had never found anything I was truly passionate about. Right from the start, I fell in love with ceramics. I love getting my hands dirty and feeling connected to the medium in a way I never have before.
I think my favorite thing about ceramics is the versatility. My shop features pieces that are 100% handmade, as well as pre-made pieces I have altered. Each gives me a different kind of satisfaction. There's the thrill of discovering a uniquely shaped plate or pitcher, and imagining what decal or paint details I can add to it to make it even more beautiful. And with handmade pieces, I love taking the piece out of the mold and seeing the blank canvas I can then carve or paint however my little heart desires.
I try to create pieces that are beautiful, unique and meaningful. I feel that words are powerful, so I tend to include them in most of my work. I hope the Etsy shoppers find them as inspirational as I do!"

wendy jung ceramics

Medium Porcelain Nightlight
"I have always been into making things. Not just in ceramics, but anything; wood, paper, metal, card, beads, fabric...... I'm happiest pottering at home or in the garden. I hate waste and love salvaging and collecting beautiful old things, too many things apparently.
For ten years I have been working with clay creating handmade functional objects. I also sell some of the curiosities I collect.
Almost all of my work is made using a technique called slip casting. I have an idea and then make the necessary plaster models and moulds. I love working in white porcelain and have perfected the technique of piercing to produce unusual pierced light forms and tea light holders. I also make vases, hanging ornaments / decorations, things for my house, whatever else I feel like doing.
Everything is made at my studio in the beautiful Sussex countryside in Battle, just outside Hastings."
