"Oh. I just like animals. Happy little animals. Drawing them, making them, thinking about them. What would they be doing if they were walking around? Drinking tea? Eating biscuits with jam? Wielding sharp tools in threatening ways? Possibly. It's pretty disgusting. Sometimes I want to make dark, mean animals but unfortunately they don't come out that way. "I have always loved beautiful things. When I look at a art doll I want it to evoke what I love, and that is all things that are good and beautiful.
I began making art dolls from Polymer in 1997. I made dollhouse size art dolls and sold most of them to the members in the local doll club I was in at that time. With life changes I had to give up my sculpting. I soon found my art moving in other directions where for many years I enjoyed painting portraits in oil. I had painted since I was a very young girl.
I picked up the Polymer clay again several years ago, I knew when I handled that clay that it was what I wanted to do and where my heart was.
When I create an art doll I have to love it, they have to ‘speak’ to me. Finding the ending is very difficult. It usually carries on into the next. I never work on more than one at a time as I want my full attention on that one figure until I am ready to let it go.
All of my art dolls are handsculpted from a special blend of polymer and all are one of a kind. I only use the finest fabrics, trims and laces and much of the fabric I hand dye myself. Many hours go into creating a figure from sculpting the figure to hand sewing much of the costumes. I hope you enjoy my art doll figures as much as I enjoy making them.
I want my work to evoke when all things within us, were good…. jt"

Blythe clothes

Hello! I just wanted to brag about this newest Blythe outfit that I made. I listed it on etsy and it sold almost within the hour! You can be sure that I will be making more of these, in different colors and patterns!!
the dress: the skirt is black and white striped, a striped ruffle layer and a black white white polka dot ruffle layer, accented with black lace. The bodice is white eyelet fabric, lined in white cotton. vintage lace is sewn down the front, with 4 small black buttons, and a black bowtie with a vintage black button & pearl in the center.
the jacket: made of felt, the collar is folded back and held with tiny black buttons (a little bigger than on the front of the dress). The sides are small and don't cloes together, so that the vintage lace of the bodice and peak over the top. The same vintage lace is sewn to inside of the cuffs to look as though it is a long-sleeved shirt. the back of the jacket has a fake corset embroidered in white, long ribbon.
the headband: 3 sizes of yo-yos are sewn to a thin piece of black felt with a tiny piece of velcro on each end to hold it together. the center yo-yo is the largest in the same striped fabric as the skirt, accented with the same vintage button and pearl as in the bowtie; the next two are the same black with white polka dots as the last ruffle on the skirt, accented with white ribbon roses; the outer yo-yos are, again, the striped fabric, accented with 2 beads.

a new mermaid

I have not painted a mermaid in ages. actually, I haven't painted, period, in a ages! This is a custom mermaid for SASessories via a trade on etsy. I am getting a couple pairs of her beautiful earrings in return. SASessories wanted the mermaid to have red hair and to be curvy, that's what she's getting. I was delighted to try some new techiniques that I've picked up on & never had the chance to use. (ex. purple shading, tiny scales, using hues of red and make some of the hair look farther away than others, a new way to do the face, the background, etc). I am so happy with how this piece has turned out. I wonder if prints would sell on etsy...
