Helga McLeod

Original painting acrylic, watercolor and ink girl in white dress with fire flies and light bubbles
"A born Namibian and natural-born nomad, I finally sunk my roots in the heart of the Free State, Bethulie, South Africa where I share my home with my wonderful man and two of the world’s greatest kids, 1 fat cat and 1 scary cat.
I have been into art and the creation of it since I could hold anything in my fist, mouth or toes and co-owned an art gallery in the 90’s while I had art training. Then followed my studies in horticulture and after that a combination of painting outside, painting the outside or painting a landscape through planting. I am naturally a nature and creation junky.
I often paint in mixed media but also love watercolours."

sarah john afana

"there she goes" original acrylic painting
"I am a working artist living just outside Paso Robles, California. I have spent my life studying and pursuing many ways of creating. I have found that creating is something that I am JUST drawn to do. I work in many forms of media from painting and photography to knitting. I may work in a series or just feel the need to explore a subject for curiosity.
My images are expressive and colorful. I use top quality artists materials in all my creations. Acid-free papers or fine stretched canvases are always used as platforms for my paintings and drawings.
Schemata.etsy.com is my other shop found on Etsy; it is where you can find my hand knits and other seasonal fine crafts. If you are in the area, much of my work can be seen at The Art Works in Paso Robles. In addition a selection of my original paintings and prints are available at ALTAMIRA Gallery, New York."

"laundry duty"
Tracy Lizotte has been creating and selling watercolor paintings and murals for the last 20 years. Additionally, during this time, She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Art Education, and taught art for 8 years in various school systems in Maine. She also fell in love, got married, and had three wonderful children.currently, she works from her home studio painting and selling artwork. The artwork she creates is bright, cheerful, and imaginative; perfect for decorating any space that needs a happy, heartwarming, and sometimes humorous decorative finish. All the ideas for her artwork come from the day to day life around her. She is utterly inspired by her children, animals, and color and patterns found in nature. Everything she paints has a story behind it, some quite funny. These stories and more can be found on my blog.

carolyn kaler

Carolyn Kaler, of Magical Brush Paintings, resides in North Carolina & paints mostly in acrylic. She leans towards a lot of texture and trying to not be as detail oriented as she usually is. Earlier paintings were done in watercolor, most of them are in private collections or on slides.
This mermaid, done in textured acrylic metalics, is one of my favorites that she has done (so far). I hope she inspires you!

a new mermaid

I have not painted a mermaid in ages. actually, I haven't painted, period, in a ages! This is a custom mermaid for SASessories via a trade on etsy. I am getting a couple pairs of her beautiful earrings in return. SASessories wanted the mermaid to have red hair and to be curvy, that's what she's getting. I was delighted to try some new techiniques that I've picked up on & never had the chance to use. (ex. purple shading, tiny scales, using hues of red and make some of the hair look farther away than others, a new way to do the face, the background, etc). I am so happy with how this piece has turned out. I wonder if prints would sell on etsy...

Art Journal

I knew that I wanted to have some sort of scales for the theme of balance. I received some mail today and the sender's address label had a girl, similar to this one, holdong scales. I found inspiration from that tiny picture. Then, I couldn't think of what to put on the scales and all of a sudden, "work" & "play" came to me. I think all elements come together just right.
