Tutus Chic
Orange Sherbet Flower Girl tutu in six layers, three different soft orange sherbet colors. Sewn and ties with a satin sash.
"Tutus have been a part of my life for a very long time. As a former professional ballet dancer, I lived to wear a tutu and lived in a tutu. Now I love to see my ideas come to life in the form of an original design. It is the same creative process as creating a role or a ballet on stage.
Creating tutus with the traditional look of a classical romantic ballet in any color or colors. ...known to have been inspired by the paintings of Degas and his Paris Opera dancers whose waists are wrapped in silk and satin over clouds of tulle.
However progressive fashion grabs my attention --nothing is better than Parisian chic with a romantic edge! Creating original headpieces and accessories is part of my history as well.
Tradition is important for classical ballet for without inspiration, life is dull. That is why making tutus of my own design sans pattern- with color- with movement- is a way of life now.
I love it. ♥
I love hearing about how you love them. ♥♥
I love seeing women of all ages enjoy them! ♥♥♥
BACKGROUND:
--Formerly a professional ballet dancer and currently a ballet teacher.
What is different about our tutus?
---they take at least 2-10 hours to make. Attention to detail and quality endures.
--gathered and sewn in traditional classical ballet construction, no knotting on elastic or ribbon.
--they tie on so there is room to grow and you can tie them in back, to the side or in front with a beautiful finished bow
-- double-faced unique and beautiful ribbons for your comfort and longevity."

Carnelian Garnet Pink Sapphire and Gold fill Earrings- Jacquelyn Limited Edition Earrings
"I am New York City based self taught jewelry designer. I started making jewelry at the very early age of ten years old. My love for jewelry was born as a way to pass the time while trying to adjust to life in the big apple. My father, a Civil Engineer, accidentally started making jewelry years before me when he discovered an abandoned tool box decked out with beads and pliers at a construction site. When he decided to devote all his time to his newly formed business, I took over the pliers and beads and my passion for jewelry began.
Every piece of jewelry in my collections have been created to bring an aura of sensuality and romance to each woman wearing it and each piece is one of a kind even when it is part of a limited edition collection. My jewelry line has been inspired mainly by my cultural background, my travels and of course my life experience living in the multi-cultural city of New York."

Pathway into Fog (8x10 Fine Art Photograph)
"My photography is an expression of my love of beautiful light, the surprises found in a garden or nature, quiet but powerful still life’s and the feeling of Lake Michigan and Up North nature. I create photographs that cultivate memories of my days spent wandering through the woods at my grandfather’s farm and playing in the garden with my Aunt Anna. It is my hope that my work evokes good thoughts and feelings in the viewer.
I enjoy experimenting with old cameras and the imagery they produce, and find inspiration in old faded photographs and art from past times, especially the art of the 1920s and 1930s."

Retro Christmas Hand Embroidery Ornament
"My creativity was influenced and inspired by my mother and grandmother. My mother was an embroidery artisan and with patience and love she taught me many of the stitches that you see in my creations. My paternal grandmother was an extraordinary quilter and she spent time with me cutting pieces, sewing and then making a quilt. I was embraced in traditional arts growing up. I collect textiles, vintage and new, to make many of my creations. With the loving knowledge given to me by these special women I create items that will bring joy to your life. These creations are heirloom pieces that will be enjoyed by future generations."

Holly Jolly Garland
"I began knitting and embroidering as a teenager and have just recently begun machine and sashiko sewing.
I am currently a stay-at-home/homeschooling mom of a very energetic boy, and two energetic cats. My husband is a mathematician, and doesn't require as much chasing around as the boy and the cats. In an earlier life I taught environmental studies and I continue to be interested in environmental issues and "greening" my household."

The Haunted Hollow Tree
walking the earth - original mixed media pyrography painting
"My name is Lauren and I am 30 years old and live in Southeastern Pennsylvania. My main focus hovers between pyrography work and mixed media paintings. I have an absolute unshakable love for figurative work and find myself always drawn back to the study of the human form. I have been self studying art for 8 year now, and while I have considered attending art courses in the past (and a few years ago would have jumped at the opportunity) I am now at a point where I really embrace the process of working without influence.
I love to collect things as well, especially art! I have two small children so I am also very into crafting and home decor. When I am not working here in my art shop you can also find me over at http://saysthetree.etsy.com which is the home to the craftier side of my work."

Little Wool House - Hand Embroidered - Gnome Home - Room Decor - Felt Art - Pincushion
"My name is Toni and I live in the small town of Plains in Northwestern Montana. My husband and I have been married for 29 years and we have five children, all grown. I am also the granny of five lovely grandchildren in ages 7 years through 8 months. They are the testers for all my toy designs.
I started out making quilts and branched out into toys. I was one of those kids who really believed my toys were alive, maybe this has something to do with why I enjoy making them so much. I have also found Kitchen items satisfying to my soul, the kitchen is the heart of the home and I get to quilt when I make Pot Holders since they have batting in them.
All items are originals designed by me, Toni, and are lovingly made in my home, one at a time, no assembly line involved."

small pomegranate in delicious orange
"My name is Yael, I'm a professional industrial designer and a partner in a design firm called Baribua(.com).
My work demands a lot of creativity, but since all the work is done on the computer, it leaves my hands "starving". For many years I was looking for an era in which I could create my final designs in my own hands.
Naturally, I never really had the time to look for it. But then, luckily, life summoned me with a relocation period to Switzerland, not designing for a while, left me with a growing hunger which led me into taking a jewelry course. The course was a big success, I went back home by the end of the first day in ecstasy, I haven’t felt that way for a long time. I started carrying my sketch book with me everywhere, designing new pieces.
The reactions of my friends at the international school my kids went to, were very encouraging, the mom's just loved my designs, first orders came in and I was so happy. I established a little atelier at home, and started exploring new techniques and fine tuning my skills.
Meantime, that great pause has ended and I'm back home, back in my design firm, meaning again I didn’t have much time for my jewelry work.
But again, life summoned me with a jeweler that saw my work, loved it and asked to put it on display at his shop. I was reminded again how much I love creating jewelry and decided I will not neglect it.
So here I am, in my new etsy shop, hoping you will love my stuff and encourage me to create more and more.
I invite you to visit me from time to time and see what's new."

nancy van den boom
Art Necklace original oil painting poppies on copper pendant with chain
"My name is Nancy van den Boom (Nancy "of the Tree") and I live in the Netherlands, close to the exciting city of Amsterdam.
I discovered oil painting in 2004, and ever since then it has been my passion. The colours of the oilpaint and the magic of creating texture and form with brushes make painting such a joy for me. My studio is my home.
I love to paint trees, birds, flowers and landscapes and sometimes people too.
Summer 2010 I decided to make wearable art with my paintings.
I like the idea to make paintings for another purpose than "just" hanging them on a wall or to put them on a desk. I the attention my wearable art gets. I love making them and they seem to be liked a lot.
I have sold paintings and wearable art to customers in the US, England, France, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Turkey and the Netherlands.
I had no painting-education, I am self taught.
Must be my name (van den Boom, "of the Tree") that I am so very much inspired by trees. I love all their ways of appearance and it's such a challenge to capture their endless beauty in all their forms."

mermaid believe altered art sign collage
"I am a 28 year old full time graphic design student, single mother of one independent 6 year old little girl with lots of spunk, altered artist and homemaker. I find inspiration in the sea and love anything to do with it, mermaids are my favorite art pieces to create. I love the unique and unusual, I love dark art and skeletons, but equally enjoy fairy's and hearts.
I appreciate everything hand made and take a great deal of time and care when making my own pieces.
I have been creating and selling collages and altered art for 10+ years now (drawing/painting since I can remember) and have been selling my work online for almost 7. I have had local shows and sold in boutiques in Sedona, AZ.
I am working on a book, and will soon be focusing on getting some pieces published but have not found enough time to do so!"

Bucktoothed Bunny
LOVE Languages - Tote Bag - Red on Natural - Cotton Canvas
"My name is Toni and I am the person behind the Bucktoothed Bunny. I live with my husband and two teen-aged boys in Massachusetts. I've had many different professions over the years, including being a photographer, a computer graphic artist, and retail store owner.
After my family's store went out of business, I turned to the internet to sell off left-over inventory. What I discovered was that I loved selling online. I decided to start making t-shirts, which I had made for promotional purposes at my store, and that is where Etsy came in. I love the flexibility of Etsy! I can try new ideas and designs, put them out there, and see what works! I love the Etsy community! It's been so wonderful getting to know so many people from all over the world!
Adding to my love of Etsy is the fact that my family has been getting involved! Both of my sisters, Tammy(TameraHerrod) and Traci(Chaseylacey), love Etsy and making treasuries! My husband, Doug, shows up with comments on treasuries here and there as Meshugehblu. My son, Zachary, helps me with packaging for my online sales. My son, Josh, is getting involved as well! He, with his recent purchase of steampunk goggles, has discovered the beauty of Etsy!!"

Signature Garnet Ring with a Slim band
"Working with metals and delicious gemstones is pure heaven to me and brings me a great amount of happiness. In my world a perfect day would consist of a few hours in my studio, a long walk with the family and a fresh burrito. Or two.
I love what I do, and I hope you will too. Because of the effects of mining on our planet I make every attempt to use recycled metals. All of the gold I use is recycled, as well as the majority of my silver. I use only fair trade and conflict free diamonds. I select gemstones from a local wholesaler whose owner and gemstone buyer holds a Graduate Gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America. Each stone they receive is checked to be natural and they only detail in natural stones.
My number one inspiration for a design concept is color. I love bright, rich hues coupled with smooth lines- bringing out the beauty in both. I offer you elegant jewelry that you won't worry about wearing."

A little bird told me - sculpture on yarn wrapped branch in blues
"I believe that the things we surround our children with should be as wonderful and imaginative as they are. With that in mind, I am trying to make some magic.
Baby Jives creates modern heirlooms that you will want to keep long after the nursery is gone. Every object is made by hand in my smoke-free studio using contemporary designer fabrics, reclaimed natural materials, and a trusty old Bernina Record.
Baby Jives is the handiwork of Jahje Bath Ives, an artist and mother living and working in Philadelphia, PA. Before it was a company, Baby Jives was the nickname for our little one, then he was born and he got a real name. When I’m not sewing, I can be found chasing after my toddler, cooking delicious vegetarian dinners, and daydreaming about my next mobile."

chasing the crayon
Original Art, Mermaid and Fish painting
"I am a freelance Illustrator, living on the border of England and Wales, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
My visual interests are character led, narrative images. I work mainly in pencil and watercolour with a dash of collage. I find this approach suits the way I work and the mood I want to create. I am inspired by words, stories, poems and very tall tall tales. Other inspiration is gleaned from choice finds in second hand bookshops or on colourful flea market stalls. My work is an assortment of eccentric individuals in a variety of guises; playful, humorous and a touch surreal.
I want to develop my own narrative, create frivolous and quirky drawings. Most of all I aim to keep the work fresh and interesting, for myself and anyone who cares to cast an eye over it."

Traveler in Red Toile
"I'm a 24-year-old Biomedical Engineer turned Fashion Designer. I graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (Go Longhorns!), but decided to go full-time designing hand bags instead. Best decision ever.
I sketch the final silhouettes of each bag in a notebook, then reverse engineer the design to create a template. I meticulously assess each dimension to minimize waste and scraps while still maintaining high aesthetic. Then I cut the fabric and start sewing on my industrial sewing machine!
I photograph and model all my products. My unpaid male model intern (my boyfriend) models my men's bags. He's my favorite.
I make all of my products in a smoke-free studio with a Pug named Hubert sleeping at my feet during the process. All items are made with lots of love and care."
