Crocus bring me a sunny Way Home, Germany

Explore #78, Mar 22, 2009 - Thank you my flickr friends ... :) !!!

I have only a 10 minutes walk home from work through a small park with a playground ... sometimes I see fabulous scenes.

Dedicated to my friends Jenny and Raphael for their beautiful testimonial. Thank you so much for your kind words :) ! Take a look at their stream they have amazing photos!

Crocus is a genus of perennial flowering plants, native to a large area from coastal and subalpine areas of central and southern Europe (including the islands of the Aegean), North Africa and the Middle East, across Central Asia to western China.
There are about eighty species of crocus (of which approximately 30 are cultivated). Their color varies enormously, although lilac, mauve, yellow and white are predominant. (Source: en.wikipedia)

Paulla Tewksbury

SHE'S A KINDRED SPIRIT Sterling Silver Cocktail Ring with Peridot and 14k Gold
"Aside from doing a bang-up job of being Paulla, my additional roles in life are mother of two, lover of coffee and all things jewelry.
I am a self-taught silversmith and find inspiration in the patterns of nature, ancient symbols, life experience, and sometimes fleeting images when I close my eyes right before I drift off to sleep at night.
In everyday life, I work full-time in the buying office of a large membership-based warehouse club where I have spent 20 wonderful years. I utilize every spare moment between work, popsicle bribes, and admiring various Lego creations to make fabulous jewelry.
I work in silver, gold, precious and semi-precious gemstones, pearls, lampwork, and precious metal clay. I welcome custom orders and enjoy challenging myself with new techniques and styles."

The Quiet House

The Jonty Chunky Tuck Smock Dress, tea dyed linen, removable collar and crochet butterfly ribbon belt
"The Quiet House is about being at home - in your clothes, in your skin, in who you are and what you believe in. In my mind's eye, my quiet house has bare floorboards worn smooth with age, a pot-bellied stove in winter, a home-made swing in the yard in summer, my nanna's vintage crocheted afghan on the tired yet comfy couch where an outrageously behaved and beloved dog reclines, and pretty mismatched china for my tea - made in a vintage teapot, of course!
I hope to provide you with fuss-free garments and accessories that reflect a quieter, simpler way of life than what I've been known for in my other store (www.MaisyBrownReproRetro.etsy.com). My favourite, pure linen, will make a regular appearance, along with pretty fabric both new and thrifted, vintage doilies, crochet, and tablecloths upcycled and transformed into easy to wear, feminine garments, bags and slippers."

My Fair Maiden

Girl's Shabby Chic Green Toddler Dress
"I grew up in the Holly Hobbie era loving things like Laura Ingalls and crinolines. I simply adore shabby chic clothing with unabashedly girly details, so I started designing such garments. I use mostly re-purposed fabrics and trimmings in my designs."

Workshop

"I think it's important as a photographer not to just copy and imitate other photographers" - Joel Tjintjelaar

This past week was, in a word, challenging. It was spring break and it was anything less than a break. I went from NYC > work > CreateAthon > back to NYC. Don't get me wrong...all the while I was doing everything I love: advertising, marketing, and photography, but it was very fast paced with little sleep in between.

Everything came to a fabulous fruition, however, this past Sunday when I had the privilege of attending Brooke Shaden's workshop in NYC. "Inspired" is an understatement. I left feeling both accomplished and the need to accomplish more. I can't say enough about Brooke and what she was able to teach us that day. We not only went through the technical processes, but, perhaps more importantly, the careful planning and crafting of each image.

I know for any and all artists, it's very discouraging when someone copies your style that you've work so hard at developing. For an artist to go out on a limb and share their process with you at the expense of potentially being copied is honorable in and of itself. Brooke really taught us to be our own artist and to work at developing our own world. This is the image I shot at the workshop. I, by no means, plan for this to be my style. This style is something Brooke has worked hard at developing on her own and she should get full credit for it. I am, however, very much looking forward to seeing how I can use these technical aspects towards developing my own personal style.

Thank you, Brooke, for sharing and inspiring :)

River Of Romansk

Vineyard Secret Garden Spring Elves Morning Dew Pale Chantilly Pistachio Green Romantic Dreamy Soft Peaceful Misty Embellished Chiffon Flowy Dress
"River of Romansk is whimsical, romantic and enchanting. I wish to recreate an era of dainty loveliness; of sash and ribbons, satins and laces.. all of which are reminiscence of a time more dreamy and innocent.
A beautiful dress is unforgettable. It has the magic to transform and the power to take our breaths away. I hope you commemorate each and every precious memory with pieces from River of Romansk - memories which would serve you with a smile many months and many years down the road!
Three people are involved in my Etsy shop (making it a Collective). They are my mother and sister and myself . The main person running this is me but they help me in terms
of packing the items for shipment, giving me new ideas in helping me create
my pieces, suggestions on the fabrics to purchase. My sister helps me with
the purchase of fabrics and materials from overseas suppliers. She is also
the photographer for my pieces created. Both my
mother and I will sew them on sewing machines. Sometimes, some pieces will
require hand embroidery. (i.e. Sewing of sequins, pearls, faux gems and
appliqués)
Everything online is managed by me. I list the items online, manage
conversations and enquiries and send the items myself at the post office.
I am very happy to be here and grateful for my family's support. This little business has helped to bond all of us together and improved my relationship with my mother, helping me to appreciate her in many ways which I was too blinded to see when I was in the corportate world. It makes me happy that my sister is in this with me because since young we have wanted to do something together and I thank God for giving me this opportunity. All glory and thanks to Him."

Mini Scrunches And Flowers Skirt
"Hi, my name is Sarah! I am a stay at home mom, homeschooling my 3 young kids by day and sewing by night. I love flowers and fabric and sewing, so i decided to put them all together and sell my creations!
Clothing has always been a love of mine, but nothing out there was different enough or fun enough. I'd daydream about the things I would wear if I could, and then spend hours drawing them. My mom and grandmother taught me about sewing at a young age, and over the years I taught myself everything else I know by just trying things out...
Linen is mainly what fabric I use, the way it drapes and rumples and wrinkles and all it's little nubs and the way the dye is always just a bit muted... there is no comparison!!!
I hope my clothing makes you smile, every outfit is made with lotsa love!"

STARRY,STARRY NIGHT BRACELET
"Growing up in Southern California, specifically Newport Beach, I have always had a love of the ocean. Having a bay on one side and the ocean on the other of a small spit of land I grew up on meant being surrounded by water. I moved to Hawaii when I was 18 and spent almost 20 years there. (Once again surrounded by water) I can't imagine not being able to see and smell the ocean every day of my life. My love of family brought me back to Newport Beach where I currently live.
Being a creative person by nature, I began making jewelry while in high school, then became employed as a silversmith. Currently, because of the lack of proper studio space, I have become enthralled with wire wrapping beautiful gemstones, which fullfills my obsession with color.
I love making beautiful things. Making jewelry is like meditation for me. I loose all track of time. It helps keep me calm, centered and helps relieve the stress of a full-time job and life in general
Putting my two loves together, tropic inspired colors and materials, and jewelry making, has brought me to create the pieces you see here.
I hope that when you wear one of my pieces, you feel that same sense of serenity that I feel creating it."
