I believe that it is so important to have art.... everywhere! I want my daughter to live in a world where the things she looked at, wares, and plays with are engaging and inspiring. I paint with her in mind, both making pieces for her, and making pieces for adults that reflect the world I want her to live in. I strive to create artwork to will make us smile. Some pieces are child-like, some are sophisticated. All attempt to show a reverence for nature, and a loving and lighthearted view. "I have always loved silver jewelry but never took the plunge in to actually making it. Then about 2 year ago I discovered PMC (precious metal clay)! How could there be such a thing, why have I only just now discovered it!!! I wish I had much earlier, I am having an incredible time creating jewelry with it and now with BronzClay and CopprClay.
I am looking for ways to combine these metals and make interesting and beautiful pieces, many are one of a kind.
Textures are my thing, I love using more than one in a piece and many items have quite a rustic or primative look to them. This is by design. I also love giving the pieces an antiqued look with patina. I think it ads so much to the pieces, especially when I'm able to achieve a wide range of blues and purples. If you prefer a shine on your silver any piece I make can be polished to a shine and they will look beautiful that way as well.
I strive to make everything as Unique as the people that wear it. Here's what some of my customers have to say "very very well made and beautiful - perfect size - love wearing them!"

"My love of storytelling and history, puppets and dolls, characters and costumes, fairytales and folklore, dreams and memories are all the things contained in the everyday whirling mind of a person who does not wish to be rooted in the realistic present. Inside my head, glimpses of other lives tell stories that resonate with melancholic sentiment. Puppets and dolls with heart and emotion, long lost souls, decadence and decay, the richness, texture, contrasts and complexities of life. All are endlessly fascinating and thought provoking.
Baroque and Victorian periods are especially evident in my designs and my work often delves into the expression and characterisation of our human nature, which we may hide away and only ever glimpse at when prompted by a reflection of our inner selves.
A life can outwardly appear quite ordinary but inside of ourselves, we can create endlessly and without limitations.

"Useful Art is my wish to create.
With years of 4-H crafting and sewing in my background, I had the desire and knowledge to create but wasn’t able to find a medium that carried the animal images from my brain into my art until I tried Needle Felting with my 4-H club. Finally, with needle felting the pictures in my mind can have solid form and not just live in the land of imagination anymore.
Learn the rules and then bend them, is my view of crafting. I’ve never met a pattern or design that I didn’t want to tweak, a painting to restoke or book that didn’t get a hundred different endings in my off-beat mind before the final page. Scraps and other oddments that could/should actually get thrown away or to my children’s embarrassment, left in the trash on the side of the road and not in my van, can find a new life in the most unusual ways when I just need a supply that I don’t have or can’t afford.
It does seem most of my felting sculptures and recycle designs are late evening inspiration, because my days are taken up by caring for two children with advanced degrees in whining and mind boggling questions, daughter’s wedding, two demanding guinea pigs, pit bull therapy dog, ornery Chihuahua, easy going Arabian, a growing 4-H club and part-time job as a librarian, insights available in my blog"

"Thank you for stepping into my obscure world of fine line abstractions, French pigeons, trees, tiny houses, coffee pots, cowboy boots, and hot air balloons. Imagining and creating are guilty pleasures for me and for my heart. Yes, that’s right, my figurative heart. Even when it wasn’t easy or was ill-advised, my heart and I have gone places. We’ve ventured through three universities in both Paris and New York, braved three unpaid photography, magazine, and visual display internships, digested numerous work opportunities in the fields of fashion, retailing, media production, five-star hospitality, and management. My art and handicrafts reflect all that I have embraced on my adventures as Virginia, clutching my two passports (American and Croatian), the handlebars of my green bicycle, or the key to my hybrid vehicle.
At age six, my heart told me I wanted to be an artist and, over the years, an actress, writer, photo journalist, window dresser, Audrey Hepburn, interior decorator, entrepreneur, baker, librarian, crafter, stylist, and even Jessica Fletcher (as played by the lovely Angela Lansbury). Because of my heart, I am happy to report that by the age of 26, I had already partaken of each aforementioned profession in one way or another (except librarian, but running your own business leads to lots of filing, reading, and telling your pets “shh”). Okay, okay, enough about my heart (but I love you, heart. I heart heart forever). Essentially, I grew up in a New York suburb of Westchester County, sampled 47.3 million learning experiences along the way, had a few key epiphanies, and now find myself appreciating beauty, nature, love, and art more than ever (as they all go hand-in-hand, n'est ce-pas?).
Aside from adoring the early morn when I wake up and drink deliciously fresh coffee, I love to travel (have been to Europe 27 times and counting!), observe, and take part in wackiness and funniness, doodle all over the place, hang out in my makeshift atelier, collect curiosities, dress colorfully, watch "Murder, She Wrote" re-runs (dork alert!), speak in funny accents, discover new and old musical gems, snuggle with Buggles (my notorious cat), explore with Watson (my wonderful adopted pup), and just live in the moment, full embrace. There’s so much beauty, cuteness, and niceness in the world, I’m pleased as punch to be involved -- a big thank you to anyone who has inspired or encouraged me and a bigger THANK YOU to those who continue to do so. You know who you are."

I have never passed by a new fabric store or art supply store without stopping. My car and my feet naturally turn toward thrift stores, antique stores, garage and estate sales, junque shoppes, etc., and naturally I just go along.
My best friends save things for me to use in my projects like tea bags, wrapping paper, maps, bottle caps, and even rusty stuff (for rust-dyed fabric).
My husband is not surprised that I take my camera to the farmers' market and that I end up bringing home more photographs of vegetables and fruits than the actual vegetables and fruits.
My studio is taking over my living space, and that seems to be working out really well for me; and it is really, REALLY well-organized -- so much so that I often can't find a thing.
Oh, and I just started roller skating again after more than 20 years off the wheels."

"Hello there! I am a stay~at~home~mom of six great kids. What a crazy, wonderful life! Some up, some down. But, no matter what, my family is the most important thing in my life.
I've been sewing since I was a little girl. My Grandpa got me a sewing machine of my own when I was 10 and I have been hooked ever since. Wow, was that really 28 years ago?? More recently my husband bought me an embroidery machine. This machine has really opened up a whole new world for me.
One day I asked myself what I could do to earn a little money and stay busy. I found etsy through a friend and was excited! I never thought there would ever be an outlet for making money doing what I enjoy. Sewing! So, why embroidered linens? With my family of six kids there is no way I can put linen on my table! I guess this is my way of trying to make someone else's table beautiful. Just to work with the fabric and package it up pretty makes me feel happy. Someday I can use beautiful linens on my own table but for now I will be content with all of the tables in the world that are made beautiful because of my handiwork!
My oldest daughter has started helping me with my work. She trims threads, makes labels, and presses the edges of the linens prior to my hemming them. We are having fun working together and I love being able to teach her something about what I love to do. ♥"

The desire to sew these together, to make something new, was born of the materials themselves.
TIMO is a small design line, all hand-made.
sewn with an eye for detail and a touch for fabric.
Being hand-made, each and every item is one of a kind.
TIMO is part of the EcoDesign trend, standing up for the right consumption and the right manufacturing, alongside
recycling, minimization of manufacturing waste and simplification of processes.
The objects' design is current and classic, but the methods of manufacture are traditional.
The materials are mostly recycled, or scraps of designers' fabrics.
Scraps of fabric piled up in the studio are used later either as stuffing or as material for other products.
TIMO is a collection, a game and a source of livelihood, all taking place in Timor's own home."

"I live in Vermont in a very beautiful, but moody climate. Half of the year is pastoral and like a dream. The other half can be trying. The season changes are charming and interesting, but winter could stand to let up a little earlier than she does.
I have always been artistic, and as a child, drew page after page of girls with different outfits on, and animals in clothes(inspired by Beatrix Potter of course). But it took me years and years to know myself well enough to pick up a paintbrush and let my imagination flow through the paint.
Watercolors really grew on me and I loved the way the flow of ideas from my head and heart flowed directly onto the paper. Watercolors are interesting in that you have to become friends with the water, work WITH it, corral it into doing what you want it to do on the paper.
I recently had a children's book published with my illustrations. It was published by a Vermont Publisher, Radiant Hen, http://www.radianthen.com.
The book is entitled "Ninny Nu's Organic Farm" and all of the characters are animals. It tells a story about how bigger is not always necessarily better. :)
I am so thankful for a venue like Etsy. Every day, I am inspired and amazed by the creative minds I see at work here.
When I am not painting, packing orders or curating treasuries on Etsy (the closest I'll ever get to being a museum curator), I am entertaining and playing with my two nutty poodles, Olin and Izzy, and my sometimes nutty husband, John :) I like running, gardening, art, food, wine, and funny people:)

"I have always been attracted to natural objects, at least as long as my clothing has had pockets. My carved and sometimes gestural pieces are intimate forms that fit and feel good in the hand. While they are generally not representations of actual objects, they reflect the shapes, patterns, colors and surfaces that I am drawn to in nature—the petals of an apple blossom, the grooves of a spindle shell, the pattern of a hosta leaf or the texture of a weathered rock all inform and inspire my work.
I was introduced to porcelain about 11 years ago and we’ve been inseparable since then. I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2345 F.
I have many works in process and will be adding them as they come out of the kiln. Each one I've listed is made individually by hand by me."

Food, wine and art are central in my life. I love the texture of paints, the nuance of light that shimmers through the layers of paint as much as I love the pure flavors and textures of fresh, organic food.
Today, it seems that we are tempted to live without any of those things. We live fast and cheap. We eat mass produced foods from ugly, disposable plates. We rarely go to art museums or galleries to see the beauty of original works, but settle for cheap prints that reproduce the colors, but lose the soul.
It has become my passion and profession to restore the art of a simple meal by offering hand painted ceramic and glass dinnerware to compliment every meal. Served on a pure white plate, painted with a simple leaf or flower, a humble supper becomes an extraordinary experience of line, light, color, flavor, aroma and textures.
A little background information:
As a student in Fine Art, I originally specialized in oils and watercolors, painting hundreds of traditional canvas paintings. However, my mentor and professor, Dr. Robert Winter, the President of the World Archeology Foundation, introduced me to the simple delights of ancient art. During an archeological trip to Sicily to explore ancient cave paintings and frescos, I found painted pottery sherds brought from over from the Greeks, and realized that the precise detail they achieved was created by painting rather than glazing.
The experience left me eager to seek out new mediums for my work, and ceramics and glass became my new canvas. Like the Greeks, I believe that the humble act of eating and drinking should be made as beautiful and sensual as possible. I help you elevate your meal to the next level by allowing you to serve your consciously prepared food and wine on platters, goblets, and plates of functional art.
The most rewarding part of working with everyday items is that so many more people can appreciate them. I’m able to place my painted dinner and glass works in more homes than I ever could have dreamed for my oil paintings. Having created entire lines of dinnerware for homes in 12 different countries, I like to think of myself as being a guest at dinner parties around the world.

"Yesterday I had a photoshoot which was really important for me. Why ? Because it was really long to put in place and organise. I had the ideas a long time ago and only decided to took the pictures lately. I must admit I was a little bit afraid of an epic fail in realising a huge idea as this photoshoot was. But at the end, I'm really happy of the result because, at the end, I got what I had in mind and that's just a feeling I love and try to always have.
The serie was inspired by paintings. In particular John Everett Millais's "Ophélia" (1851-1852) and Herbert Draper's "Lamia" (1909).

Also, I need to tell you that I'll be on holiday from tomorrow for one month and half in Italy. Unfortunately, the internet down there is too slow to upload pictures. Anyway, I'll try to do it but I think it won't worked, so I prefer to notify you because I don't want you to think I leave flickr or anything. It is now marketed as Fire Ant First Aid and worked so well for so many skin problems that we launched other products utilizing the active ingredients under the Beemu logo.

"The Black Lotus clothing line is a collection of unique, hand-sewn pieces inspired by the SF Bay Area belly dance scene. Christina Molcillo, the founder and designer, was introduced to the world of belly dancing in 2002 when she attended a performance by the San Francisco troupe Fat Chance Bellydance, who specialize in ‘American tribal’ dancing. She was struck by the innovative and unique nature of the costumes, and how they helped to enhance the drama of the dancer’s movements. As an artist from the Academy of Art college with a background that includes illustration, costume, and fashion design, she recognized the opportunity for her to become a part of this exciting scene, channeling her creative energies towards a medium in which she could use her skills to create a clothing line that could be as functional as it was theatrical. She delved into the world of belly dance completely, taking up classes with Celena (the "Killer Ziller")
and performing throughout the Bay Area with troupe Illumination. In those years, she experimented with her own costumes, discovering what worked while performing, and what didn’t. Three years later, with the help from a former troupe member Jennifer “From the Fig Tree” Black Lotus was officially launched.
What makes Black Lotus unique is the care that goes into making each piece. Designs are painstakingly silk-screened onto individual parts, details like beads and feathers are carefully placed , and every garment is an original creation. The end result is a costume that serves a purpose as well as tells a story. Christina’s vision is to transform the dancer into a storyteller, that the clothes and the dance combined lure the viewer into the performance, the perfect melding of artist and audience. A little background...
I was born and raised in the small, rural town of Salem, OH. Growing up I spent my days fashioning Barbie dolls and choreographing dance routines with my neighborhood friends in the backyard. A bibliophile from inception, I was also notorious for carrying books everywhere I went and even co-authored an illustrated chapter book with my best friend in the sixth grade. In high school I developed a passion for taking pictures and eventually merged my love of writing and photography by working on the school newspaper and yearbook. I left for college with lofty dreams of one day becoming a photojournalist for National Geographic, but ended up graduating with a B.A. in English and aspirations of librarianship.
After pursuing my MLIS at Kent State, I landed my first professional position as Fiction and Audiovisual Librarian in the artsy community of Oak Park, IL. A move to the city to get paid to talk about books and movies with people? It seemed like a dream come true for this country mouse! Shortly after my move in 2002, I discovered the emerging DIY scene in Chicago and decided I wanted to become a part of it. So I ordered some Sublime Stitching patterns, taught myself how to embroider and quickly began selling my creations at craft fairs.
My love of variety and desire to try new things led me to explore many crafts over the next several years - everything from screenprinting to jewelry making. And I simultaneously began to work my way up at the library, taking on more advanced job titles. Ultimately though I returned to the craft I know and love best - hand embroidery. In 2009 I began stitching primarily retro inspired designs using vintage materials and almost immediately began receiving continuous positive feedback from customers and the crafting community.
After finding the library ladder climbing to be more tiring and less rewarding than I had hoped, I decided to leave library land in July 2010 in order to pursue my crafting business and find my next professional path. I am still searching and settling into my new working life, but I am much happier and looking forward to what the future will bring!"

"Hello Beautiful Person! My name is Hilary.
I started making my living from my artwork in 1989. Somewhere along the way, I adopted the name Bunny with a Toolbelt, which encapsulated the way I love to learn and work in many different art media. I also liked the name because (much to my mother's chagrin,) I was quite fond of appearing in public in a bunny suit right around that time. I don't do that too often these days, but I still think it's a great business name.
In addition to Etsy, I sell this work at The Gallery at the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Oregon College of Art and Craft, The San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design, the Wood Turning Center, and Crafty Wonderland's biannual bazaar in my hometown Portland, Oregon. The work I show on my Etsy site has been featured in the Style section of the Sunday New York Times, Brides Magazine, Green Wedding Shoes, 100 Layer Cake, Eco-Beautiful Weddings, Wedding Bee, Broke Ass Bride, and ReadyMade Magazine, among others.

When I'm not working on this business, I spend most of my free time making other artwork. I have created large scale installations for the Fuller Craft Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Craft, the Indianapolis Art Center and others. "Hello, I'm Laurie J Niswander:)
I love three dimensional art and how it fits into everyday life; I love a beautiful, well crafted pot, or a sculpture in the garden.
I work with stoneware clay making handbuilt and wheel thrown pottery, as well as slab-built figurative sculptures. I roll out clay slabs and let them set until they are leather hard. I cut and assemble shapes, scoring and using clay slip to bind the slab walls together. I work textures into the surfaces of the figures using tools I have created from bisque fired clay, plaster casts, natural elements, and fabrics such as burlap, lace or netting. I use a red iron oxide finish on the sculptures before firing them in the kiln to 2262 degrees fahrenheit.
I am thankful for the many influences on my artwork. My father is a folklorist. He has traveled all over the world bringing home with him traditional art such as Hopi Native American masks, kachina dolls, Cambodian shadow puppets, and face jugs by southern American artists. Being exposed to many diverse influences has been an inspiration. Another great influence on my art work was my mother, who made sculpture from stone and clay. When I was a child, my mother always had a large trash can full of earthy wet clay, which provided material for my early exploration and creation.
Recently I became interested in Japanese Haniwa tomb sentries while doing research for a class. Haniwa tomb sentries are slab-built terra cotta sculptures with mask-like faces. They are dancers and noble warriors whose purpose is is to protect the dead. They can be humans, or animals; male or female. I have used them as a guide for my own sculpture.
In my work there is an element of spiritual offering, a feeling of tradition and ritual ceremony. Sometimes the female figures dance, or sometimes they bow down in worship. They always wear a quiver on their back, representing the tension of power inside them; though they exhibit courage and mercy, there is an underlying ferocity of spirit.
My sculptures have been part of juried competitions, and have recently won a guild award at the Creative Craft Council juried show at the Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda Maryland."
